The Life Summary of Andrew

When Andrew Ring was born about 1617, in Leiden, Holland, Netherlands, his father, William Ring, was 37 and his mother, Mary Durrant, was 33. He married Deborah Hopkins on 23 April 1646, in Plymouth Colony, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He registered for military service in 1643. He died on 23 February 1692, in Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America, at the age of 75, and was buried in Burial Hill, Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States.

Andrew Ring, the son of William Ring and Mary Durrant, was born at Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, and died 23 Feb 1692 (aged 74–75) at Plymouth in the Plymouth Colony.

Andrew’s first wife Deborah Hopkins was born 1625 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, daughter of Stephen HOPKINS. Deborah died 1674 in Plymouth, Plymouth, Mass.

Andrew’s second wife Lettice Kempton was about 1629 in London. Her parents were our ancestors Ephraim KEMPTON and Hannah [__?__]. Lettice first married 1648 in Plymouth, Plymouth, Mass to John Morton, son of George MORTON (b. 1616 in Leyden, Holland – d. 3 Oct 1673 in Plymouth, Mass.). Lettice died 22 Feb 1691 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Mass.

Children of Andrew and Deborah:

  • i. Samuel Ring b: 1649 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • ii. Elizabeth Ring b: 19 Apr 1652 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • iii. William Ring b: 1653 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • iv. Eleazer Ring b: 1655 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • v. Mary Ring b: 1657 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • vi. Deborah Ring b: 1659 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony
  • vii. Susanna Ring b: 1661 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony

There were two women in early Plymouth named Lettice, each with two husbands, and they have been confused. Lettice Kempton, prob of London, it seems likely is the one who married first John Morton and then Andrew Ring.

Note that Morton's stepfather was Manassah Kempton, and this Lettice would be his niece. Both of her husbands were the offspring of Leiden Separatists.

The other Lettice was surname Hanford, with a documented family from Devon England, and marriages to Foster and Jenkins, who are not as closely associated with the original Separatists. Adams-21565 09:44, 16 March 2016 (EDT)

It is very possible that she is NOT the wife of John Morton or Andrew Ring. They were both likely married to the OTHER Lettice born Kempton.
