Andrew Jackson Sargent

MY GREAT GRANDFATHER

Andrew Jackson Sargent, son of Eliphalet Sargent and Lydia Wells, was b.in Dunbarton, NH.on July 7, 1835. They family moved to Goffstown, NH; he m. with MARY FARLEY on Apr. 15,1880 in Goffstown, NH. She was b. May 4,1859 in Goffstown. He d. June 11,1906 in Hillsboro; she d. Feb.28,1910 in Stoddard. Both buried at Church Street Cemetery, Hillsboro, NH.

Children were: Mary (3/25/1882), Achsah (4/30/1885), Lydia 6/14/1889), Andrew Jr (9/2/1891), Lucy (5/6/1893), and Bryan (4/21/1898). All born in Goffstown.

Andrew worked as a butcher/farmer for most of his working life and finally, in 1901, moved to Hillsboro NH, where he resided until his death. Prior to that, because economic times were difficult and money scarce, as with a great majority of families, the children were boarded out to other families to learn a trade or help with that family's household.

Note: His age and birthdate seem to fluctuate; with birth listed from 1832 to 1840. His death record list him as b. 1855 but dying 1906 aged 70.There were also a number of Andrew Jackson Sargents in the area.
