He is an immigrant ancestor who came to Virginia from Barbados with his wife and son before 1691.
The first of the Woodley's in Isle of Wight was Andrew Woodley. The County Court on March 9, 1693, certified that there are due to Andrew Woodley six hundred acres of land for the transportation of himself four times, wife and two sons. In 1693 James Baron granted to Andrew Woodley for 7000 pounds of tobacco, the 640 acres patented by Anthony Matthews in 1664. Andrew Woodley was a sea captain and made several runs from the Colonies to Barbados and the other islands. In his will he mentions his sea books and instruments. It is known that he transported himself at least four times with his wife and family, two sons, and five Negroes. Andrew Woodley the youngest son of John Woodley arrived in the Virginia Colony sometime before 1691. Andrew Woodley was a skilled surveyor. The county court of Isle of Wight requested he assist, and supervise, the commission appointed to run, mark, and bound the dividing line between Isle of Wight and Surry Counties.
His will left to Thomas, 202 acres called "Little Neck," bought of Edward Cobb: to sons Thomas and John Woodley the land called "Nottoway Neck" we took up together: to son Thomas a Negro boy, girl and child, silver tankard that holds five pints, and my surveying books and instruments. To grandson John Copeland land bought of William Pope, to keep him to school, the land to be in his father's possession till age 21: to grandson John Woodley a Negro boy and if John dies before age or without issue, the said land and Negro to granddaughter Elizabeth Copeland: to grandson John Copeland my Sea Books and instruments: to granddaughter Elizabeth a Negro girl Diana and a Negro girl Lucy, the latter to be free when Elizabeth reaches 24 years: but if Elizabeth dies in minority, then Negroes to go to daughters next child, and if she has none then to grandson John Woodley. To daughter Mary Copeland 5 new pewter dishes, new feather bed and pair of blanket stands that stand in the Hall Chamber, and a silver cup that holds near a pint. To son John Woodley all land bought of Edward Champion and the land bought of Edward Cobb lying in one patent whereon I dwell: to son five slaves and one mulatto girl: the residue of estate after debts to son John Woodley. The wife to be the executor.

- Andrew Woodley was the youngest son of John Woodley and the first Woodley in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.He arrived in the Virginia Coloney sometime before1691. He appears in the 1704 census of landowners of Virginia.He apparently was skilled as a surveyor and was requested by the county court of Isle of Wight to supervise the comssion appointed to run, mark, and bound the dividing line between Isle of Wight and Surrry Counties.
GEDCOM Note
The Four Square Plantation on the Isle of Wight was developed over 200 years by the Woodley family. It is on the National Rgister of Historic Places and is the most complete intact plantation in Virginia. Many of the out buildings survive from the original plantation developed by Andrew Woodley. The house that is standing was completed in 1803. By the Civil War the Woodley's were one of thewealthiest families in the State.
