The above information is erroneous. The Van Zyl - Bruwer Marriage Record (See Sources) makes it clear that Johanna Elizabeth Bruwer had not been married before and that the Marriage Record referred to her mother as "Johanna Elizabeth Bothma, widow of the late Willem Jacobus Bruwer". Also, the Death Notice of Johanna Elizabeth Bruwer, the spouse of Andries Johannes van Zyl, makes it clear she was indeed born Bruwer.
