The Descendants of Donald Og, Son of Rory McNeil of Barra.
This Donald Og came to Pictou in 1802; and from there he came to Christmas Island about the year 1806. He settled on the lot of land which was afterwards occupied by Hugh Gillis (Ban) and Donald McNeil (Farmer). When he came from the Gulf with his family, he took a cow with him. The following winter provisions ran short, and on the 1st of February, he was obliged to kill the cow to keep his family from starving. But it appears that he was in comfortable circumstances when he died, fifteen years after his coming to Christmas Island. He was married to a woman named Mary McNeil (Mairi Bhan) sister of John McNeil (the father of Big John the River)
