About Ann Brewerton
Birth: Sep. 11, 1795, England
Death: Jan. 29, 1859 Salt Lake City Salt Lake County Utah, USA
Daughter of Elizabeth Green and Samuel Pilley.
Married George Sr. Brewerton 6 August 1822 at Kirkstead in Lincolnshire, England.
Ann immigrated to America with her younger, unmarried son, Samuel Joseph Brewerton, aboard the sailing ship, the Samuel Curling. They departed Liverpool Harbor 22 April 1855, under the LDS Church leader, Israel Barlow.
As they were preparing to depart by wagon train from outside what is now Atchinson, Kansas, her son, Samuel died of cholera.
Ann traveled across the Great Plains from an outfitting post at Mormon Grove with the Charles A. Harper Company of Mormon Saints. Captain Harper was personally in charge of the so called "Independent Group", of which she was a member. The Independents had 14 wagons and left on the 26th of July, along with those who were members of the Perpetual Immigration Fund.
The other groups in Captain Harper's Company followed between the 25th and the 31st, under various sub-captains.
Ann's group reached the Salt lake Valley in Utah Territory 28 October 1855. Before he was able to join them, her husband died in England two months later and was buried there with other children they had lost.
She resided with her son's family in the 16th Ward at Salt Lake until they moved north to settle at Willard, Box Elder, Utah. At her death, she was in Salt Lake City.
