About Ann Broaddus
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=timrhopki...
That she is a daughter of Thomas Redd, Jr & Elizabeth Barbee Redd is by somewhat circumstantial evidence. In the family of Mordecai Redd there is remaining this statement, "Aunt Broaddus, sister of Grandfather Redd".
Her family used to come to Kentucky & later Mississippi to visit the "kin", Mordecai Redds' children, and later grandchildren,, would visit back & forth with the family of "Aunt Broaddus, sister of grandfather Redd". His daughter Ann is said to have been named for his beloved sister Ann. Mordecai probably lived with this sister while he was a single man in Caroline Co, after their mother died.
Thomas Broaddus lived in Caroline Co., very near the King and Queen Co border, an excellent opportunity to meet and marry a neighbor girl who lived just over the county border of K&Q. They would have married just about the time Thomas Redd, Jr. died. Her children are listed in the order in which they appear in the Will of Thomas Broaddus. Given the high mortality rate of those times, how many other children she had or what their names were is not known."
