About Ann Rees

http://www.chenowethsite.com/ch4r0.htm Ann, known as Nancy, was the second child and daughter of James and Hannah Chenoweth Carter, born near Winchester, Frederick Co., Virginia. She is the only Carter daughter we have a continuation for. At the age of 32, in Frederick County, she married John Rees, also a native of the county. The Rees family was Quaker with roots from Wales. In Virginia, many of them drifted away from this religion. John was farmer and a Baptist. In 1780, during the Revolutionary War, they moved to Washington Co., Pennsylvania with the rest of her Carter siblings, so that the first half of their 9 children were born in Virginia and the last half in Pennsylvania. John is credited with serving in the war from Pennsylvania. Ann would die at the age of 49 in Washington County, her youngest son was only about two years old at the time. John remarried and lived another 34 years. He is buried in the Mount Moriah Cemetery, Brownfield Town, Fayette Co., PA. The final resting place for Ann is not known.
