About Ann Hunt

MRS. ANN N. HUNT CALLED

Mrs. Ann Newling Hunt departed this life in this city, Monday January 4, of old age. She had been confined to her bed during the past seven or eight months.

Deceased was born at Ducksford, Cambridgeshire, England, Decmber 4, 1826, making her 88 years old on the 4th day of December last. She embraced the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in her native land, being the only one in the family of which she was the only one in the family of which she was a member to do so. She emigrated to Utah in 1852, coming as one of the family of Hannah T. King, was married to Isaac Hunt at the Sugar House Ward, Salt Lake County, in March 1853, by Bishop A. O. Smoot.

Deceased was a Dixie pioneer, with her husband and children being the fourth family to land on the old camp ground of St. George.

Ann Newling Hunt was the mother of nine children, seven of whom survive her as follows: William at Fruitland, New Mexico; Alma, Pine, Arizona; George and Isaac, St. George, Utah; Martha Ann, Lund, Nevada; Susie Gridley, California; Philena, St. George. Fifty-seven grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held in the tabernacle Tuesday afternoon, the speakers being Elders A. N. Winsor, Ed H. Snow and James McArthur. Interment was made in city cemetery.

Ann Newling Hunt, 88, died January 4, 1915 in St. George, Washington County, Utah of old age.

She was born December 4, 1825 in Ducksford, England to Elizabeth Payton Newling and James Newling. She married Isaac Hunt March 27, 1853 in Sugar house, Salt Lake, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband. He died in 1904.

To this union they had the following children: William James Hunt, Martha Ann Hunt, Alma Moroni Hunt, George Holmes Hunt, Elizabeth Mary Hunt, Isaac Hunt Jr., Julia Lucinda Hunt, Susie Matilda Hunt and Philena Hunt.

Interment was made in the St. George City Cemetery on January 5, 1915

She married Isaac Hunt March 27, 1853 in Sugarhouse, Salt Lake, Utah.
