Ann C. Lagina, 89, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday August 24, 2010 peacefully in her sleep.

The foremr Ann Cavalieri was born in Iron Mountain on August 30, 1920, the daughter of the late Enrico Cavalieri and Theresa Mari Cavalieri. Ann graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1938 and worked for Lake Shore Engineering until 1948.

She married George Lagina on June 5, 1948, and together they lived in Milwaukee from 1948 until 1950. During that time she worked for the VA hospital. Since 1951, she and George have lived in Iron Mountain.

She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church and taught CCD and counted money at the church. Ann was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Dickinson County Right to Life, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Paisano Club, and a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul. Ann and George were also instrumental in the construction of the new Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, as well as active adorers.

Ann was an avid painter who enjoyed long walks with her husband and grandchildren. She had a love of family and was quick to put food on the table for any family or friends. Ann lived her life in service to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrico and Theresa Cavalieri, brother Peter Cavalieri, sister Jean Vecellio, and granddaughter Lauren Mari Lagina.

Ann Lagina was survived by her husband, George Lagina, her four children: Marianne (Jim) Gardner, Rick Lagina, Marty (Olivia) Lagina, Terese (John) Fornetti, and by nine grandchildren: Andrew (Chris) Gardner, Stephen (Katie) Gardner, Cristina Gardner, Alex Lagina, Madeline Lagina, Daniel Fornetti, David Fornetti, Julia Fornetti, Peter Fornetti and two great-grandchildren: Noah Gardner and Avery Gardner.
