Fife Herald 26 May 1881 OPENING OF THE IMPERIAL TEMPERANCE HOTEL This handsome edifice is now open, and on Wednesday evening a number of gentlemen, in order to publicly inaugurate this new enterprise of Mrs Laurence, dined in the hotel. Mr Henry, architect, presided, and after dinner he proposed success to Mrs Laurence in her undertaking. Mrs Laurence, he remarked, had started the establishment with the view of providing comfortable accommodation for those who liked to live in a temperance hotel, and he was glad to state that the number of that class was increasing. The toast was received with loud applause, and thereafter Mr Brown gave the architect and contractor, associated with the name of Mr M'Pherson, plasterer. The meeting broke up shortly after 10 o'clock, a very happy evening having been spent.

In 1878 Ann's husband Peter has died, and brother-in-law John also dies, and in his will forgives a debt of 100 pounds owing to him, including interest.
