1885: John Peter is living in Dundee in 1885 when his uncle, John Laurance dies. John Peter is one of his executors, and legatees. See John's will in documents. It might be this legacy that allows John Peter to move from selling music in Dundee to hotel keeper at the Imperial Hotel in St Andrew's.

1888, Larbert, Stirlingshire. John Peter dies on 1st October, at Larbert (railway) Station, of tuberculosis, pleurisy and pericarditis (inflamation of the heart area). Seems sudden and unexpected. Mother, Ann Lawrence born Taylor. Informant: Peter Malcolm, his cousin, farmer at Kincardine, Auchterarder. See documents

[I have found Peter Malcolm but not the relationship that makes him John Peter's cousin. Peter Malcolm was a farmer at Kincardine, Blackford on the potato farm he inherited from his parents, Peter and Elizabeth malcolm, both born at Madderty. Peter never married and his mother and sister kept house for him. He died in 1906 aged 83yrs and is buried at Auchterarder.
