About Ann MacNeil (MacKinnon)

From page #75-76 in "History of Christmas Island Parish":

John McKinnon. “An Griasaich,” and his descendants.
John McKinnon, shoemaker, was a son of Neil McKinnon, Castle Bay, Barra. He
was married to Jessie McDonald, niece of Rev. Angus McDonald, who was Parish Priest of Barra before he was taken to Rome to become a Professor in the College of the Propaganda.

John McKinnon and his wife and infant son, John, came to Cape Breton in 1817, and settled on the land occupied, until lately, by John Bryden, Benacadie. After coming to Benacadie they were blessed with a family as follows: — Maggie, Mary, Neil, Katie, Ann, and Angus.

Ann married Rory McNeil (Red Donald).

From page #117 in "History of Christmas Island parish":

Donald (Red) settled on a lot of land adjoining that of his uncle, the “Governor". He married a woman from Judique. Her Christian name was Cecilia, but I have not found out her surname. Among the people of her time she was known as “Cecili Nic Rob". Issue:— Cecilia, Isabella, Mary and Rory.

Rory was generally known as “Ruairidh Cecili”. He was a fine, able looking man, and a leader among the many strong men of his days. He married Ann, daughter of John McKinnon (Shoemaker), and when they had a family of two children, Donald, and John, he went to Boston, but never returned.
