Ann Boone's parents have never been identified, though Winter family tradition holds that she was the sister/aunt/cousin of Daniel Boone.

According to the Winter Family Bible, William Winter and Ann Boone had 11 children, in the following order:

After Ann Boone Winter's death in 1771, William Winter married Eleonor BALL CAMPBELL (d/o Anna Ball Campbell; Eleonor was the sister of William Winter's son-in-law James Campbell) on 1 Mar 1774. Two of their children were born in Berks Co.; by 1779 they had moved to Muncy Twp., Northumberland Co. William Winter and Eleonor Ball Campbell had 8 children:

William Winter's first wife, Ann Boone, may have been a sister to Capt. Hawkins Boone, Revolutionary hero who died at the Battle of Ft. Freelands; William Winter is referred to as "a brother-in-law" of Hawkins Boone in Meginness' History of Lycoming Co. The theory exists that Ann, Hawkins, and Capt. Boone's sister, Elizabeth Boone DeFrance, were the children of Benjamin Boone and Susannah Likens, and therefore the cousins of Daniel Boone. The search for the identity of Ann Boone Winter has revealed a number of fascinating coincidences that may be clues to the Capt. Hawkins Boone-Elizabeth Boone DeFrance-Ann Boone Winter puzzle.
