Ann Weller had three sisters, one married a Selby (Dad always got his whisky & wines from Selby of London); one married a Nelson & another a Lynde, the last had offspring, Walter, Dad's cousin, married Alice Dobell, Aunt Mary Ann's (Dobell) step-daughter and they had 6 children 3 boys & 3 girls I believe. Bertha married Dr Prentiss, who practised at Hawkhurst & who now lives at Northiam. The three sisters as widows, lived with Grandfather Wood at Brooklands.{ Notes made by Doris Brook Wood in 1946} Grandfather Wood may be Thomas Wood, son of John Wood & Ann Cronkshaw? [ Source; Notes taken by Doris Brook Wood & sent to Brenda Souter, who sent them to Margaret Harrison in South Africa]
Ann Weller: "Marriage solemnized in the Parish of Lewisham in the county of Kent in the year 1825; Henry Wood of the Parish of Allhallows, Bread street, London, Bachelor and Ann Weller of this parish, spinster & minor were married in this church by licence with the consent of the wife of James Fuzzey & William Wigg, her guardians, this fifth day of July 1825, by me Hugh Jones, Vicar. The above is a true extract from the Register of Marriages, belonging to the Parish Church of Lewisham in the county of Kent, taken this fifth day of December 1840 by me E. Morgan, Curate. " The 1851 census gives a more accurate account of Ann Wood's family than the 1841 census. In 1851, Ann Wood is 44 years old & six children are at home. Mary Ann Wood (24), Eliza (23) ,Henry T (20) John J (16), Emily S (13) ,Alfred A Wood (5) As Ann Wood was a teacher it is possible that some of the children counted in the censuses were visiting children. For instance Frederick William Wood appears in 1841 census &1861 census but not in 1851 census? Perhaps he was at boarding school. By 1861, Ann had died. On her burial stone : In affectionate remembrance of Ann dearly beloved wife of Henry Wood,Esq. Lewisham.
