About Annatje Schuyler
Annatje 'Anna' Schuyler (Wendell)
Find A Grave Memorial ID # 73452341
Anna Wendell was born in December 1743. She was the eldest daughter of Harmanus and Catharina van Vechten Wendell. She grew up as a member of the large family of a prominent Market Street merchant.
In April 1765, she married a somewhat older Philip Peter Schuyler at the Albany Dutch Church. By 1785, nine children had been christened in Albany. One daughter married jurist Abraham van Vechten. Two others became the second and third wives of James van Ingen.
These Schuylers raised their family on Schuyler property located along the river to the north of Albany. In 1790, their farm was served by five slaves.
In 1769, the daughters were provided for but not named in the will filed by her father.
Anna Wendell Schuyler died in December 1802 and was buried from her church. Her husband lived until 1808.
