Anna (Annie) Maria Lucas

Anna's parents were John Munton and Frances Ann Burcombe who he married in Sunbury, Victoria in 1859. John immigrated to N.S.W on the ship "Humboldt" in 1852 from England, with new wife Eliza Bruin who he married in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England in 1852. There is a death under the name of Eliza Bruin in 1866 which could be her. John died in the Gaol Hospital in Geelong, Victoria in 1885. Frances married John Charles Tew in 1873 and had 2 more children. She died in 1911, the same year as Anna. Anna married John Nathaniel Lucas in Fitzroy, Victoria in 1880. They had 9 or 10 children together, the last being born in 1899. John ended up in New Zealand in 1900 (according to his death cert.) and started calling himself John Richard Lucas. He married Elizabeth Jane Cross in 1911 about 2 weeks after Anna died. John had 3 children with Elizabeth before they married and 2 after.

When John married Frances Ann Burcombe in 1859, he used the name of John Shearman. I can only think that this may of been because he had deserted his 1st wife. I don't know where the Shearman came from. Annie and her older sister Emily Frances were both born in Victoria and their births registered under Shearman. Matilda was born in N.S.W and Alice and Eunice were born in Queensland and were registered under Munton.
