Februar 1855, godparents: 1. Beerbten Ehefrau Carulina Lammers zu Hesepe, 2. Unverheirateter Anton Grafe zu Lage, Kirchspiel Haselünne

She came over at age 15 (according to the 1910 U.S census in 1870) as a bonded servant for Blossing (Blessing)? She came through the Port of New York straight to Quincy. Her sponsor was Starman, a cousin. The sponsor starmann is probably Bernhard Heinrich Starmann, his father married a Anna Gesina Maria Tecla Weers, sister of Thimothea Tecla Schulte Weers who was Maria's grandmother.

She went to work as a housegirl. It is believed that Maria stayed with her Uncle John Bernard Grawe m Maria Wallenkamp b abt 1830, who had immigrated previously. Wealthy Germans often sent for relatives in Germany to do house work, marry local German boys and eventually integrate into U.S. society.
