Interview with great-grandson; John Anastas, by daughter Sheila Anastas circa 1967 during visit to John Bordewick's white frame house at the corner of St. Anthony road by the cemetery: We didn't visit very often because my mother had married outside of the German community, but I remember grandmother was laid out in the dining room; both were for their wakes. My Grandfather was the tax assessor for the area. As a result, he carried a pistol when he made his rounds and often stayed overnight where ever day's end found him.
S. Anastas: John Bordewick was the only child of the five children born to his parent's to survive infancy. One brother; Bernard Heinrick died in Germany. Two of his brothers; Joseph and John Joseph, probably died of the cholera epidemic in Quincy, dying within days of each other in 1862. The last, Bernard Joseph John was born and died in 1857.
