Ann Fulmer was born April 29, 1846 in Coweta County, GA, the oldest child of John William Fulmer and Rachel E. Cotton Fulmer. She died November 4, 1897 in Winnsboro, Wood County TX.
In 1850 census, she is 5 years old living in the home of her parents in Coweta County, GA with younger siblings John William Jr. age 3 and Levi T., age 1.
In 1860 census she is 15 years old and still living at home with her family and additional siblings in Coweta Co, GA.
Based on the ages and birthplaces of the Fulmer children, the Fulmers migrated from Coweta County GA to Coosa County, AL between 1963 and 1866. In fact, by the time of the 1870 census, all three of the oldest children have left home and Anna is married to John M. Corley (who is the brother of Martha Ann Corley, wife of John Ashcraft) and her first child, a son named Walter Lee, has been born in Alabama.
It is clear that John and Anna Corley lived for a while after their marriage in 1868 in Alabama. We know that by the 1870 census, Anna and John are married with a one-year-old son and living in Quitman, Wood County TX, but this son had been born in AL. It is therefore likely that the couple lived for a short time after their marriage with one or the other set of parents (probably the Corleys), gave birth to their first child, Walter Lee, in AL April 16, 1869, and then migrated to TX in time to be censused there in 1870. It is likely that the event that precipitated this move was Richard and Mary Corley selling their farm in Coosa County and moving to Arkansas. So both moves probably took place at the same time in the second half of 1869.
John and Anna applied for their marriage license on June 18, 1886 and married in Coosa County on June 20, 1886 with A. G. Raines, O.M.G presiding (Book D of Coosa County Marriages, page 90).
By the 1870 census, Anns parents and siblings still at home are living in Coosa County. In the 1870 Census, Anna and John and their son are living in Wood County, TX (Quitman), in this household
