Regarding her first name: We have intentionally spelled it Anna in the name place above and added 'Annar' as a nick-name by way of not disregarding it completely. She was called Anna in her birth and marriage records. A 1766 deed for land she purchased in Amherst spelled her name Annah Dodge. One theory about the spelling 'Annar' is that it derives from the Boston area accent whereby words that end in A are often pronounced with an R sound (ie: idear, Canader, Brender). Another is that it was simply a mistake. Even gravestones can have errors, note Rev. Daniel Wilkins' stone with the wrong death year!. Thank you Gregory Wood for your help. [jlsm 5 May 2020]
