Mrs. Anna Katherine Hofer, fine Gaylord lady, passed away at her home in Gaylord last Thursday, June 21. Memorial services were held from Simmons mortuary in Smith Center last Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Neil Bock officiating. Vocalists were Elsie Frutiger, Leona Nichols, Mae Kelling and Esther Freeborn with Lena Frutiger as accompanist. Pallbearers were Oliver Grisier, Lou LaBarge, Verlin Cronn, Jim Sears, Clifford Hays and Richard Hofer.
Anna Katherine, daughter of John H. and Jennie Steinman, was born May 2, 1892 at Byron, Nebr. and passed away at her home in Gaylord, Kansas, on June 21, 1962, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 19 days.
On December 15, 1925, Anna was married to Elmer Hofer. To this union was born one son, Robert. In the early thirties, Anna was baptized into the Cedar Christian church. For the last 15 years she has been a member of the Christian Science Mother Church of Boston, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Baldridge.
Left to mourn her passing are the husband, Elmer; the son, Robert; the daughter-in-law, Shirley; two grandchildren, Jo Ann and Bill; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Fischer, Belleville, Kansas, and Mrs. Matilda Willis, Grand Junction, Colorado; one brother, Harry Steinman, Lebanon; many other relatives and a host of friends.
