Baroness Anna Magdalena Emilie Dorothea "Dody" von Tiesenhausen June 8, 1924 - April 17, 2003 After a long courageous battle with cancer, Dody passed away peacefully at home with family and friends at her side. Dody will be sorrowfully missed and always loved by her sons Edward (Connie) of Demmitt; Hjalmar (Connie) of Hinton; daughters Estrid Cope (Charles) of Brighton, England and Christine Fischer-Simon (Rudi) of Bremen, Germany. She also leaves behind her brother Henning Menke of Verden, Germany and sister Sussie living in France; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren all over the world. She is predeceased by her husband Roman in 1987, one sister and two brothers. She was born in Bremen, Germany on June 8th, 1924. In 1961, she, with husband, Baron Roman Von Tiesenhausen and children Edward and Hjalmar came to Canada and settled on their farm in Demmitt, Alberta. In 1969 she moved with Edward and Hjalmar to Acton, Ontario to explore a new employment opportunity in roperty Management. In 1977, she retired from her career and settled in Toronto. In 1987 she returned to Alberta to help Hjalmar as his business partner in their Petro Canada service station in Jasper, Alberta. In 1994 she retired again and purchased her dream home in Hinton, Alberta to enjoy her 2nd retirement, which she certainly did. Dody was an inspiration to all that knew her as she played life to the fullest, always with a smile on her face. She made many friends in both Jasper and Hinton and as her family, we are very grateful to these friends who made her life so much more enjoyable in her golden years. A Memorial Service in her memory will be held at the Hinton Good Companion's Senior Hall on Wednesday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hinton S.P.C.A. where she brought many a lonely cat and dog that were digging up her garden.
