Anna Sloan plays third in Eve Muirhead’s rink that won World Championship gold in Riga, Latvia, in March, the pair also won gold together at the 2009 and 2011 World Junior Championships. As a skip herself, Sloan won gold for Great Britain at the 2009 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Poland and the 2011 Winter Universiade in Poland.
She also represented Scotland at the 2011 senior World Championship, skipping a rink that contained fellow Team GB members Claire Hamilton and Vicki Adams, with Muirhead as the alternate.
In the 2011-12 season Sloan teamed up with her current rink to win the European Championships, before building on that success in the following season and winning both the World Championship and Players Championships to go into the Sochi Games full of confidence.
Anna chose curling as there was a lack of other leisure activities when she was growing up. Her parents and grandparents were also involved in the sport and influenced her decision. (heraldscotland.com, 04 Nov 2011)
