About Anna Stirtz

Anna was born about 1694 in Katzback, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. She married Hartman Hunsaker in Switzerland about 1712. In 1728, "it is reported that the Swiss government, which was the Rominish Church, confiscated all Mennonite land and jailed and deported all suspected Mennonites." Hartman was one of those jailed and then deported with his family. At least two children were born in Wiesbaden, Germany, where the family went before seeking refuge in America.
