NEARLY NINETY-FOUR YEARS

Aged Pioneer of Knox County Dies Here Saturday June 9

Mrs. Anne Walters died in this place Saturday afternoon from ailments peculiar to old age. Funeral services were held from the Community church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by the Revs. Botsford and Wright. Interment was made in the Linville cemetery.

Anne Bruce, daughter of John and Mary Bruce, was born in Rurbin county, Indiana, July 26, 1826, and at the time of her death was almost ninety-four years of age. She was married in Gallatin county, Ky., to Aaron B. Walters in 1843 and to the home came 12 children, all of whom survive her except two died in infancy and on daughter, Mrs. Alice Prosser, who died some years ago. The husband passed away February 6, 1906, and since that time Mrs. Walters made her home with the children.

Mr. and Mrs. Walters came to Missouri in 1855, settling in Mercer county. Later they moved to Indiana and in 1862 to Kentucky. In 1870 returned to Missouri and this time settled on farm in Knox county on Bee Ridge. Since that date Mrs. Walters had been a continuous resident of this vicinity. During the many years of her life she gave freely of her time and energy to the assistance of those who needed help. Upon coming to Knox county in 1870 she united with the M.E. Church, South and lived a sincere, faithful Christian life.

She leaves to mourn her departure five sons and four daughters. The sons are Samuel of this place, Morgan of Nickleton, John and Jacob of Kansas City. The daughters are Mrs. Belle Prosser of this county, Mrs. Sarah Corey of Bozeman, Mont., Mrs. Ella Swango of Newark, and Mrs. Martha Beville of Marion County.

To the many friends who so kindly remembered us in the illness and death of our beloved mother, Mrs. Anne Walters, we desire to tender our sincere appreciation. The kind acts and the words of sympathy make the affliction more bearable.
