Annabell Fairchild

Annabelle (Reed) Fairchild, age 88, of Battle Creek died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at her home in the loving care of her family.

Mrs. Fairchild was born on September 5, 1925 in Marshall, Michigan to William and Annie (Nelson) Reed. She grew up in the Marshall and had lived the majority of her life in the Battle Creek area. She was a homemaker.

On November 8, 1947, she married Gene Fairchild in Marshall. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2001.

Annabelle was a member of the Dexter Lake Church of God. She also attended Family Altar Chapel and the Pennfield Assembly of God churches. She enjoyed flower gardening, doing word puzzles and cross stitching. She is remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother. She loved baking and made special cakes to celebrate family occasions such as birthdays and graduations. Annabelle loved to go shopping and could spend hours looking through the stores.

She is survived by daughters, Joan Ratliff, Sandi Knickerbocker and Nancy McCullough all of Battle Creek; sons, Willard Fairchild and Bruce Fairchild of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and special caregivers, Sheila, Ellen and Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacquelyn Dzioba; sons, Dennis Fairchild and Michael Fairchild; brothers, Harold Reed, Earl Reed and Clyde Reed; and a sister, Elizabeth Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 AM to 1 PM. at the Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Homes, 723 Old US 27 N., Marshall, MI. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Travis Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
