Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cordray-34
Anna Cordray (or Cowdray), daughter of William Corderoy, Esq., by his wife Bridget, daughter of Edward Goddard, was baptized at Chute, Wiltshire on April 29, 1609.
Anna married the son of Richard Bernard, Esq., and Elizabeth Woolhouse, (as his second wife) Richard Bernard, Gent.,[1] "of Petsworth, Buckinghamshire,[2] at St. Andrews-in-the-Wardrobe [St Andrew by the Wardrobe] November 24, 1634.[1][3]
Richard and Anna had three sons
- Richard,
- Corderoy and
- "probably Francis,"
and two daughters,
- Anna (wife of Maj. John Smith) and
- Elizabeth.[1]
They immigrated to Virginia before 2 Jan. 1646/7 and settled in York County.[1] Richard Bernard, Gent., died before 3 April 1651.[1] In 1652, his widow Anna purchased Priors Plantation, near York River.
She died shortly before 25 Sept. 1671.[1] In 1661, "Anna Bernard, now of Purton, in Petsoe Parish", Gloucester county, sold Pryor's plantation.[4]

one source said the Ironmongers listed were her "nephew and nieces", but (my surmise is that William and Fra. Ironmonger are probably her nephews, Francis Iremonger, and William Ironmonger and Eliza Ironmonger is probably William's wife Elizabeth Jones. From Magna Carta Ancestry (#Richardson): "William...immigrated to Lancaster County, Virginia before 1651. He married Elizabeth ______ . They removed to Gloucester County, Virginia before 1666."
Will of William Corderoy of Chuet, Co. Wilts, Esq, written 15 June 1621 and proved 4 November 1623. Chester's 'Marriage Licenses' shows that "Richard Bernard of Petsoe, Bucks, widower, aged 26," was granted a license, Nov. 24, 1634, to marry "Anne Corderoy, aged 26, daughter of _____ Corderoy Esq." at St. Andrews-in-the Wardrobe, London. They came afterwards to Va., and in a grant of land to Mrs. Anna Bernard July 2, 1652, appear the names of Ellinor, William and Edward Corderoy, headrights. From the names of the will and the headrights it looks very much as if this William Corderoy was the father of Mrs. Bernard. There are other things which seem to prove that this was indeed the fact. Among the other headrights to the Bernard grant, which has been referred to, were William, Francis and Elizabeth Ironmonger (or Iremonger). In the Salifbury marriage licenses, not in course of publication in the (English) "Genealogist," it appears that on July 23, 1628 a license was issued for the marriage of Samuel Iremonger of Dennington (Donnington?), Berks., gent., aged 21 , and Bridget Corderoy of Chute, Wilts., aged 24. We have therefore the three daughters of William Corderoy, the testator, accounted for. Anna, who married Richard Bernard, Elinor, who came with her sister to Virginia, and Bridget, who married Samuel Iremonger. Evidently Mrs. Iremonger's children came with their aunt to Virginia. There ware also others not included among these headrights. In this Magazine XI, 75, 76, - 'this' magazine not identified - are the administrations granted 1681 to Elizabeth (Iremonger) wife of Anthony Evenden, on the estates of her sisters Martha (Iremonger) wife of John Jones, and Ann (Iremonger) Rumney, and her brother Corderoy Ironmonger, all of whom had died intestate in Virginia.]
From Buckinghamshire, England. Immigrated to Virginia.
