About Anne Carre (Boswell)
Alexander Carre married Anne Boswell 31 December 1799 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. They had no issue. See explanation below for the disposal of the Carre estate:
IX. Alexander Carre, last of the male line, of Cavers, Nisbet, and Hundolie, born 1746, married 2 January 1800, Anne daughter of Robert Boswell, writer to the signet, Lyon depute and interim Lord Lyon King of Arms, and died without issue in 1817. His sister Mrs. Riddell became his representative. Hundolie reverted to the Marquess of Lothian, Nisbet passed to Lord Sinclair, and Cavers descended, in consequence of a disposition dated 1802, September 14, executed by Alexander Carre, to Robert Riddell Carre, Vice Admiral Royal Navy, who died in 1860, and was succeeded by his nephew the late Walter Riddell-Carre of Cavers-Carre, who died 1 December, 1874, leaving issue Thomas Alexander Riddell-Carre of Cavers-Carre.
