About Anne Haas
As written by Charles A. Fry grandson: Anne's family owned a rpoperous livery stable in Duncannon. They drove the foinest horses and carriages, with white gloves and proper attire. Her mother could squeeze the buffalo off the nichol. Her desire was a give house and she ended up with 11 rooms. Grandma did not want Oscar (whom she babied) to work in a Puddling Mill so she put granddad in the coal business (since he ran blast furnaces he knew coal) in a few years she added a hardware store (since granddad made iron ore) he knew mettles). Grandma and Granddad came to South Dakota in about 1927 and I heard Grandma tell Mother their business was worth $80,000 and oif Granddad died first mother could expect $10,000 from the estate, but if she died first Granddad would blow the money and she probably would get nothing. Grandma died 1st and Granddad bought a car, a farm and got remarried and died poor.
