  • 'Lieutenant-Colonel John Manners-Sutton (29 July 1752 – 17 February 1826) was a British soldier and politician, the second son of Lord George Manners-Sutton. He served in the Coldstream Guards.
  • 'He married Anne Manners, the illegitimate daughter of John Manners, Marquess of Granby, his first cousin. The couple had six children:
    • John Manners-Sutton, died unmarried
    • Robert Manners-Sutton, d. 1815
    • Rev. Frederick Manners-Sutton (1784 – 30 August 1826), married on 2 September 1821 Lady Henrietta Lumley, daughter of John Lumley-Savile, 7th Earl of Scarbrough and had issue, including John Manners-Sutton.
    • George Manners-Sutton (d. 13 January 1836), unmarried
    • Rev. Thomas Manners-Sutton (6 August 1795 – 27 October 1844), married on 23 November 1826 Lucy Mortimer and died without issue
    • Mary Georgiana Manners Sutton (d. 8 November 1846), married on 20 January 1812 Robert Nassau Sutton and had issue

  • 'b. 29 July 1752, 2nd s. of Lord George Manners (afterwards Manners Sutton), and bro. of George Manners Sutton. m. Apr. 1778, his cos. Anne, illegit. da. of John, Mq. of Granby, 2s. 1da. suc. bro. George Manners Sutton 1804.
  • Manners Sutton was returned on the Manners and Sutton interest at Newark. He voted for Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, 18 Feb. 1783; for parliamentary reform, 7 May 1783; and against Fox’s East India bill, 27 Nov. 1783. He followed his cousin the Duke of Rutland and supported Pitt throughout this Parliament, though he apparently disapproved of his part in the Westminster scrutiny.1 There is no record of his having spoken in the House.

  • b. c.1746, illegit. s. of John, Mq. of Granby, and half-bro. of Charles, Mq. of Granby and Lord Robert Manners (qq.v.), 'Anne, Illegit. da. of Lord Granby and wife of John Manners Sutton (q.v.) was his sister'.1 educ. Eton 1757-62. unm.
  • Cornet, R. Horse Gds. 1761, capt. 1762; capt. 3 Drag. 1767. Served on Ld. Granby's staff in the seven years' war.
  • Returned by Granby for Scarborough, Manners strictly adhered in the House to his father's line; in the three divisions on Wilkes before Granby's resignation, 3 Feb., 15 Apr., and 8 May 1769, he voted with Administration; on the two after Granby had gone into opposition, 9 and 25 Jan. 1770, with them. In three divisions after Grandby's death he did not vote. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. He died June 1772.
