About Anne Morrison
AnneSlemmons came from England and originally booked passage on a boat coming to Philadelphia. She carried with her a package of money and jewels which she expected to use to pay her living costs when she arrived. One night she was awakened by a lot of noise on the deck and decided to investigate. When she reached the deck the sailors and passengers were preparing to abandon the ship and she was the last person to get on the life boats. The assumption was that the boat was in danger because of a storm. She was brought back to London where she again took passage on another ship but because she had lost her money she was accepted as a passenger on an indenture agreement under which she was to be bound out to the person who paid her passage and for whom she agreed to work for a period of time without other remuneration. AnneSlemmons's indenture was purchased by a family named Morrison and Anne married John one of the sons of the family. (family history)
