About Anne Poitron dit Potheron

Anne was born on Jul 1st, 1646 to Pierre and Jeanne Poitron in Bezons, France and was apparently their only child according to records. She was baptized at the age of six before she was sent to the Quebec colony as one of the many Filles du roi.

She was one of the almost nine hundred women (mostly girls) who were sent to the new world because there was an imbalance between men and women in the colony who could marry. She ended up marrying both Pierre Martin in 1670 and Jean-Baptiste Desjardins in 1674.

She had eight children and lived to be 66 as she passed away on June 13th, 1713.
