About Anne Sigursdatter Berg (Jonsås)
There were two Anne's during this time. This research came through Blaine Hedberg of the Vesterhelm Genealogical Center in Madison, Wisconsin. He thought that the writers of the Sauherad Brygdebok, Vol. 3, were confused by this too. Maiden Anne Sigursdatter Jonsaas married Halvor Sigurdsson Hytta under Hem on April 12, 1814 according to Sauherad parish Register, 1814, BK 4. The wedding was witnessed by Anne's two brothers, Lars Edingsaas and Hans Kaasa. Maiden means she had not been married before. After their marriage in 1814, Anne's parents gave them a small farm on a hill which had been part of the Jonsaas farm and the farm was called Berg ("hill"). Please see the media entries on this profile page from the Sauherad farm history Brygdebok book 3 with a ? by Anne's husband (Tollev) and then the entry for the other Anne showing her husband Tollev. Research shows this 2nd Anne was a widow when she married Tollev, so she couldn't have been Anne Sigursdatter Berg who was a maiden when she was married. Then see the letter from Anne's son, Halvor Halvorson Berg about when he was young on the Berg farm, part of the Jonsås farm. It is all very confusing, but from this research, Anne Sigursdatter married Halvor Sigurdsson Berg (Hytta under Hem) on April 12, 1814.
