"... 9 July 1941 is the beginning of the end. Anneliese is sent to forced labour in a hemp processing factory ("Flachsröste") in Lohhof, a few kilometres north of Munich. Initially she is allowed to sleep at home (Franz Joseph-strasse and from 1 September 1941 in the house for Jewish families in Amalienstrasse) and commute. 'She leaves the house at 5.30 in the morning and returns at 6.30 in the evening, she takes food with her for the whole day, they make her work outside,' writes Grandma Lina to her relatives in Italy. Then Anneliese is forced to sleep in Lohhof and returns to Munich occasionally at weekends. Letters show that Anneliese has a boyfriend, Hans Ney, a Jewish boy from Halle who had moved to Munich from Berlin in 1939. The two always meet at Munich station when she returns from the labour camp. Translated from the Italian with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
