About Annemarie Schrödinger

Anny was born on December 31, 1896, the second daughter of Eduard Bertel, who was a prosperous photographer (court photographer), actor, and industrialist in Salzburg, Austria.

Anny and Erwin Schrödinger were married twice: the first time (on March 24, 1920) in a Catholic ceremony in Anny's local parish, and again two weeks later (on April 6, 1920) in an Evangelical church. They never had children, but Anny tolerated Erwin's numerous affairs throughout their marriage, and helped raise his illegitimate daughter Ruth, whose mother was Erwin's mistress Hildegunde ("Hilde" or "Hilda") March, wife of theoretical physicist Arthur March (February 23, 1891 - April 17, 1957).[1][2]

Anny died on October 3, 1965[3] (not in 1955 as is mistakenly given in some accounts), and is buried with Erwin in the Alpbacher Friedhof (Alpbach Cemetery) in Alpbach, Kufstein District, Tirol (Tyrol), Austria.[4]
