About Annie Bell Newton
Mrs. Alex Newton Is Stricken Fatally At Passapatanzy
Mrs. Alex Newton, 59, lifelong resident of Passapatanzy, died yesterday afternoon at Mary Washington Hospital one hour after being admitted with a cerebral hemorrhage. She was brought to the hospital by the Rescue Squad after being stricken at her home.
The former Miss Annie Bell Carver, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Carver, she was a member of Fletcher's Chapel Methodist Church, in King George County, and the daughters of America.
Mrs. Newton had been in good health except for suffering a stroke six years ago.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Thomas, Lillian, and Eunice Newton, all of Passapatanzy; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Allen, of Stafford, Miss Rosie Carver of Passapatanzy, and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carl Yow.
Pallbearers will be six nephews of the deceased, George, Lewis and Paul Carver, William Sullivan and Archie and Henry Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fletchers Chapel Bible Class and James Allen, Seymour Allen, James Dodd, Eddie Henderson, Dr. L. F. Lee and Joseph Williams.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Wheeler and Thompson Funeral Home.
