Annie Smith

Annie's mother came from Ireland. They lived in Westport, Digby County on the islands. Annie was the youngest of 10 children.

Annie's father died when she was very young.

Annie could not read or write. She went to school and someone teased her and she refused to go again.

Annie was a very hard worker. She did more outside work than housework.

Annie had a temper. She would get after her husband who tended to be lazy and he would get up and go to work.

Annie grew up poor.
