Annie (Ann) Laurie Thaxton Watts Stroud, 85, of Pensacola, Florida was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday night, October 26, 2015. She was born January 25, 1930 in Bolingbroke, Georgia. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1947 and attended the University of Alabama (Birmingham) for dentistry assistant, office and receptionist. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed bream fishing very much. She also loved her flowers and taking care of them, watching them bloom and grow. Her favorite flower was yellow roses. She was physically unable to attend church services, but was always watching and listening to gospel music and preaching. She is preceded in death by her father Alfred D. Thaxton, mother Janie Heard Thaxton, brother M.K.Thaxton, sister Gladys Ballew, granddaughter Whitney Ann Watts, 2 aunts, 2 uncles and nephew Robert Brooks. She is survived by her dear children Kenny (Sheila) Watts, Tom (Becky) Watts, David (Cathy) Watts, Teri (David) Spears, Jane (Dana) Watts, and John Stroud. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Daniel (Julie) Watts, Crystal (Lee) Tate, Megan (Brian) Quinn, Brittney Watts, Elizabeth Watts, Shelby Brooks, Dillon Stroud, Timothy Watts and Amber Stroud, and 4 great grandchildren: Lauren Watts, Whitney Brooks, Andrew Watts, Aubrey Tate and one on the way. Also surviving her are 1 niece, Debbie (Mitchell Smith) and 3 nephews, Stacey Brooks, Scott Brooks, and Keith Ballew.

The family will receive friends at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service. Officiating will be Senior Pastor Jeff McKee and Evangelist Lee Tate. Burial will follow in Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Pensacola News Journal 10/29/2015
