6.13 Anthony John Albuquerque is the head the best-known branch of the Pezar Albuquerque family. According to one source of information, Anthony was a convert, his original name having been Ananth Pai and conversion having taken place in the year 1784. If the date is correct, then the person converted can hardly have been Anthony John, as he was probably born in the 1790s (his youngest son Cosmas was born in the mid 1840s). Moreover there are other branches of the Albuquerque family - such as that of Denis Albuquerque, teacher at St Aloysius - that do not descend from Anthony John Albuquerque.
