Anthony Pound, of Drayton

• Son of William Pounde of Drayton and and Mary Haynos
• Anthony Pounde (d.1547), who married Anne Wingfield (d. 13 November 1557), the daughter of Lewis Wingfield (died c.1526), ninth son of Sir John Wingfield of Letheringham, Suffolk, for whom see the History of Parliament entry for Sir Richard Wingfield.
• John Pounde’s son through his marriage to Elizabeth Holt was William Pounde (1474 – 1525), who would become the next heir to Wishanger Manor, and upon William’s death on 5 July 1525 it would be duly passed on to his son and heir, Anthony Pounde (1502 – 1547) by which time the Modern Age had begun and the Reformation (31st Oct 1517) had taken place. Anthony’s brother would marry a lady called Ellyn Beverley, she being the half-sister of Thomas Wriothesley, 1st Earl of Southampton (1505 – 1550), who had been instrumental in the process of divorcing Rome, and who we will look into more closely a bit later on. But the Pounde family were now even more closely linked to the King through marriage, and Wishanger was similarly well connected through ownership.
