About Anthony Sizer

Born May 10, 1707 on Terceiras Island in the Azores, Kingdom of Portugal, he was a shipbuilder and seaman who came to the U.S. in May 1726. He arrived in America Antonio De Zocieur, but there are recorded instances of alternate spellings: De Zoucieur, De Socieur, D'Zascieur, De Sosieur. Some time later "americanized" his name to Anthony Sizer, of which also there are various different spellings (Seizer, Sisar, Syzer, Sizar). Note: Back then there was no legal process to change one's name.

He married Sarah Tryon, daughter of a wealthy farmer, on May 10, 1727, and had the following children:

Note: Dates are "old-style" (add 11 days to equate modern calendar).

Most of the following information I got from my grandmother, Kay Ringer, and from research by my husband, some of which (both) were undoubtedly gleaned from the Sizer genealogy book by Lillian Hubbard Holch.
