About Anthony Thompson, of Lenham
Birthdate is incorrect if Dorothie Crisp is his daughter, but there is not a lot on this family.
Anthony Thompson, of New Haven was thought to be descended from the Thompson family of Lenham, Kent Co, England. However, Gary Boyd in "Genealogies of Connecticut Families", 1983, shows that this is not possible. Anthony Thompson, of Lenham, son of Henry & Dorothy (Honywood) Thompson, who was baptized in Lenham in 1612, only left a daughter as heir, so it is not possible that they are the same.
"...Royton Manor did indeed belong to an ances- tor: Robert Atwater (1479-1522). Upon his death, he passed it on to his son Robert (1500-1565) who is not in our line. In turn Robert passed it to his daughter Mary who married Robert Honywood. From there it passed to Robert’s daughter Dorothy who married Henry Thompson, gent. Henry’s son Anthony, who died in 1682, passed it to his only daughter Dorothy (see above) who married Richard Crispe, gent. In turn they passed it to the Belchers, Fosters and Bests..."
