About Antony Peter Brzoska

At the age of sixteen he came to the United States with his parents and brothers and sisters. Entering from the ship Ventura at San Francisco, he made his way, with the rest of the family to Buffalo, New York where he developed skill as a paper hanger and painter, which trade he pursued until his decision to retire to an easier job in the nineteen forties when he went to work at Curtis Aircraft.

Tony prospered, even during the great depression, so that his family never had to want for anything. All his children were taught to work and bring the money home to their parents. A small allowance would be parceled out to the son or daughter from their earnings. Tony was a very strong—willed man who could be very domineering.

Mary was a very good gentle lady with a tolerant attitude. She allowed her husband and children to absorb her time and energy beyond her strength to give. Her daughter—in—law remembers her as eager to please and willing to give her utmost for her family. She was a most kind and supportive person. Cousins remember Tony and Mary as unusually strict parents compared to their own parents.

The Catholic Church was the center of importance for both Tony and Mary and they were generous in their donations to the Church in many forms. It was a joy, not a duty, for them to attend mass and they were extremely proud when a son decided to become a priest.

All the teachings of the Catholic Church were seriously followed by this family and they taught their children by these precepts.
