BIOGRAPHY Archibald was born on 20 August 1736 in Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland, the son of John Maclean and Ann Maclean.

He moved to Germany and was a merchant in Danzig. On 17 September 1761 in Memel Archibald married Maria Simpson, daughter of John Simpson, town major of Memel. Archibald and Maria became the parents of four sons.

Archibald Maclean died on 6 October 1810 in Königsberg, Prussia.
