ARCHIBALD MAXWELL OF STANELY

Archibald Maxwell of Stanely is the younger son of George Maxwell of Newark, and the nephew of Patrick Maxwell of Stanely. Memoirs of the Maxwells of Pollock, p. 464 According to William Fraser, when Patrick Maxwell of Stanely died without issue: "the lands and barony of Stanley soon afterwards became the patrimony of Archibald Maxwell, younger son of George Maxwell, nephew of this Patrick, and the first of Newark."
