About Archibald McMillan

Toombs Co, GA, was created in 1905.
Vidalia was formerly in Montgomery Co, GA.

Born: about 1742
Highlands, Scotland

Autosomally, his various descendants are DNA cousins of Flora (McMillan) McMillan (1764-1851+), born in Saddell Parish, Saddell and Skipness, Kintyre, Argyll, Scotland.
Flora married blacksmith Archibald and lived in the Redhouses in Dippen (located in Carradale) in 1841 and 1851.

Flora's descendant matches Archibald's Ozment and McMillan descendants (through Malcolm McMillan) and several children of Archibald McMillan's daughters (who married McRae and McLeod) on exactly the same segments of various chromosomes.

Archibald immigrated to North Carolina (abt 1760) with his family and brother Gilbert.

The diary of William Wallace McMillan, a Confederate Soldier from Monroe Co, AL
"I will now in my own way give as well as I know how the genealogy of the 'McMillan' Family. My ancestors, as far back as Plainly shows, were Scottish. I can trace them as far back as Scotland, but no farther. My g. grandfather, Archibald McMillan, emigrated from the Highlands of Scotland some where about the year 1760. He settled in Richmond County, North Carolina. He had two sons and ___ daughters as follows; Malcolm McMillan (wife Margaret Smith); Gilbert McMillan (wife a McKinnon) x McMillan (husband Charles McKinnon) Flora McMillan (husband x McRea) Catherine McMillan (husband Norman McLeod) x McMillan (husband x McLeod) x McMillan (husband x Buchannan) My g. grandfather was accompanied to America by his brother Gilbert, (crossed out and John substituted in another hand), most of whose descendants still reside in the southern part of N. Carolina.
Gilbert (again John substituted) McMillan, the brother of my g. grandfather married a McKinnon."
