About Archibald Moncreiff, Minister of Blackford
Biographical Summary
"Archibald Moncrieff, eldest son of William M., min. of Moonzie; educated at Univ. of St Andrews; M.A. (13th July 1691); licen. by Presb. of Dalkeith 9th Dec. 1695; ord. 16th Nov. 1697; died Aug. 1739, aged about 68. He marr. Katherine (died 8th Jan. 1763), eldest daugh. of John Halliday of Tulliebole, and had issue, eighteen children - William, his successor in the parish; John, an author, died 1761; Robert, clergyman in Church of England, died 1767; Mungo; Charles, died young; Alexander, died on voyage to India, aged 22; Margaret (marr. John Moncrieff, min. of Rhynd); Helen, died unmarr. 1772; and ten others."
