About Arent "Aaron" Putman
Arent Janse Putman was born in Schenectady in about 1675. In 1708, he married Lysbet Akkerman (baptized in Kingston, Ulster County, New York on December 17, 1684). She was the daughter of Lodowyk David Akkerman and Janetje Jacobsje Blyck.
They sold their lands in Schenectady in 1709 and in 1713, he is listed as a weaver in Albany, New York. Sometime in the late 1720s, he moved with his family to the Mohawk Lands west of Amsterdam. He was still living there in 1754. He worked in this area as an Indian interpreter.
It is reported that he was killed about 1754 during an Indian raid at Currytown, Montgomery County, New York.
