Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Prairie City Christian Church, with burial at Waveland Cemetery. Mr. De Reus was born in Otley and had lived in the Prairie City, Colfax and Ira areas most of his life. He had been a farmer. A brother, William of Des Moines, survives. Friends may call after noon today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie City Christian Church.From a 1981 paper, "Rites Tuesday For Arie De Reus, 77 - Arie De Reus, 77, of Newton, died Friday eveing, Apr 17, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Apr 21, at Walters-Colburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church in Colfax, conducted the services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Organist was Mrs. Donald De Reus. Casket bearers were Randy De Reus, Ed Ross, Rex Ross, Mark Ross, Dennis Ross, and Ronald De Reus. Survivors are two sons, LeRoy of Colfax and Raymond of Reasonor; two daughters, Betty De Reus of Newton and Mrs. Warren (Doris) Ross of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Marie VanderLeest of Fort Madison, and two brothers, Henry of Prairie City and William of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister. The son of Henry and Nellie Steenhoek De Reus, he was born Aug. 27, 1903 in Otley. He was married to Sylvia Miller Jan. 12, 1926 in Ivy. Mr. De Reus resided in Des Moines for 21 years and also in Mitchellville, Prairie City, Colfax and Melcher areas."
